Prim Václav Král Design Tribute LE

His art of never giving up now comes to life in a chronograph watch. A lasting reminder for everyone who wears it: not every result is visible straight away. Limited edition of 150 pieces.

The art of never giving up lives on. A sketch brought to life in a watch.

Václav Král began drawing his sports car in the mid-1980s and kept returning to it until the early 1990s. He reworked it, modernised it, again and again. A wide front and rear, narrow cabin, wedge-shaped silhouette, extremely low profile, an emphasis on aerodynamics. It remained a series of sketches. But not in vain. Their shapes found their way into his later designs and today, for the first time, they exist in a form that can be worn on the wrist.

The model was created in collaboration between our design team and Jiří Král, Václav Král’s son, who worked with his father from the age of fifteen and continues his work. Perseverance runs in the Král family.

The watch was created to mark the 150 Years of the Králs exhibition, where the one hundred and fifty years represent the sum of the father’s unrealised ninetieth birthday and the son’s sixtieth. Hence one hundred and fifty pieces, each individually numbered on the case back.

The 42 mm case is made of 316L stainless steel, sandblasted to a velvety matt finish and treated with a black PVD coating. The hands and applied indices feature a gun metal finish, while the subdials have a distinctive sunburst effect that shifts into subtle copper tones depending on the angle of the light.

The domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings enhances the depth of the dial and resists scratches. The chronograph measures to an accuracy of 1/4 of a second, while the tachymeter scale around the edge of the dial references the model’s automotive origins. The crown bears the P monogram from the new Prim logo.

These are not watches made as a keepsake. They are watches made for the journey. A reminder that it is worth carrying on, even when the result cannot yet be seen.
