City Triathlon – Karlovy Vary 2025: When Sport Meets Elite and Heart
On 12–14 September 2025, Karlovy Vary transformed into the centre of world triathlon – City Triathlon was held this year for the first time as part of the prestigious World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) and we were there.
What the event offered:
- Elite course: 1.5 km open-water swim in the Rolava River, then a technical 40 km cycling stage, and a final 10 km run through the colonnades and spa districts of the city.
- The competition was fierce – Olympic medallists, world champions, and world-ranking leaders arrived, both women and men. Karlovy Vary welcomed, among others, Matthew Hauser, Hayden Wilde, Vasco Vilaca, Beth Potter, Leonie Periault, and Emma Lombardi.
- In addition to the elite races, a full accompanying programme was prepared – children’s races, amateur group races, rides, cultural and music events.
Results that will go down in history
- Women: An emotional victory was claimed by Beth Potter – in the final she managed to close a gap of more than a minute on Taylor Spivey and win thanks to a brilliant running leg. Third place went to Lisa Tertsch.
- Men: The victory and first place in the WTCS was taken by Henry Graf, who built a decisive lead on the cycling stage; close behind him was Miguel Hidalgo. Third was Csongor Lehmann.
Our role & why it makes us proud
We are glad we could be part of it! We supplied a special edition watch created specifically for the City Triathlon, which not only adorned the participants but also became a symbol of the union of sport, performance, and precision craftsmanship.
It was a great inspiration for us to see the world’s best athletes battling on the course, and spectators cheering every segment of the race – from the swim on the Rolava waters, through the technical cycling climbs, to the running finish along the colonnades. The atmosphere, where adrenaline, endurance, and passion for sport formed one whole, was extraordinary.
