The PRIM Mucha Mystery is inspired by the work of the Czech Art Nouveau painter and graphic artist Alfons Mucha. The main motif is the woman the famous artist depicted in his work as an ethereal, mysterious being. However, the original elements of Mucha's posters are minimised in the spirit of modern watch design.
The elegant dial is decorated with a floral scene that reflects the symbolism of the cycle and the passage of time. The shape of the hands is inspired by the artistic style of Art Nouveau. The print on the inside of the crystal glass cover adds an interesting element to the watch, contributing to its uniqueness. The indices and numbers seem to float above the dial, through which it gains an extraordinary lightness.
The leather strap and caseback feature the silhouette of the woman in the poster "Monaco - Monte Carlo", which Mucha created in around 1890. The watch was created in three colour options - blue, green and pink. The subtle shades are based on the colour palette of this work by Mucha - blue represents the Mediterranean Sea, green and pink represent the flowers that surround the woman depicted in the poster.
The watch was created in cooperation with BigMedia, the curator of the most successful exhibition of fine arts in the Czech Republic, namely the exhibition of the largest collection of Mucha's work, which is now owned by the Richard Fux Endowment Fund.
Alfons Mucha (1860-1939) was a world-famous Czech Art Nouveau painter, graphic artist and journalist. He is especially famous for his applied arts, such as posters, labels, books, jewellery and furniture. Above all, his work in the field of posters, calendars and advertisements is known and popular not only among the Czech public. In addition to his commercial activities, he also undertook patriotic ones, for example the large paintings of The Slav Epic, in which he depicted the history of the Czechs and other Slavic nations. Unfortunately, he did not have time to complete this monumental task.
